Technical Support/PDF

I'm using PitStop, FlightCheck, and/or Acrobat 7.0 Professional. What settings does ULI's preflight department use?

PitStop Professional is a utility from Enfocus, Inc. that allows you to check PDFs before using them or sending them to United Litho.

The preflight settings we use can be downloaded here.

FlightCheck is preflight software that is written by Markzware, Inc. Updates to FlightCheck happen frequently and can be found here. If you're having trouble preflighting, please make sure you've updated to the latest revision/patch.

You can download our ground controls file for Macintosh here and for Windows here. To activate, load FlightCheck, open your Ground Controls window and choose the option to import. Choose the file you downloaded. Then, pick the United Litho set for preflighting.

Activating FlightCheck

Acrobat 7.0 Professional has finally given us a reliable preflighting solution for PDFs. Adobe provides occasional updates here.

You can download our Acrobat preflight profile here. To activate this file, you must first unzip the settings file. Then load Acrobat, choose Advanced > Preflight, click on the Options menu and then "Import Preflight Profile..." and pick the file you unzipped.

Activating Acrobat

Preflighting is accomplished by clicking on "United Litho" and then the Execute button. A report will be generated listing potential errors. Note that clicking on the bottom left box (called "Show selected page element in snap view") will let you view the items that caused an error. In the case below, this image is shown to be a 72 dpi RGB image.
