How should I set up Quark's color management? A better question might be "SHOULD I set up Quark's color management?", to which the answer is no. Turning this stuff on makes your job much more complicated, as you will have to watch the profiles you activate and use in every graphic. That said, if you're dying to have the displays and printouts more accurately, this is what you'll have to do. First, calibrate your monitor. Then, load Quark and go to Preferences > Quark CMS, and click on the "Color Management Active" box.
The "Monitor" box should contain the profile you created after calibration. In the "Composite Output" box, you should select the profile that represents your color laser printer. In the "Separation Output" box, choose "US Web Coated (SWOP) v2".
When printing, a tab for Profiles will appear. If you wish to print something similar to what should appear on our presses, make the above selections. If you're looking for a brighter, more presentable piece, turn off the "Composite Simulates Separation" option.
